In memory of a great and very brave man

Early morning – April 4
A shot rings out in the Memphis sky
Free at last
They took your life
They could not take your pride

(Final verse of the song Pride (In the name of love) by U2.)

In case it hasn't dawned on you yet, the man I am referring to is Martin Luther King Jr. - a man who had a dream and who dared to stand up and talk out loud about it in a time when it was not generally embraced by the society he lived in.

A wise man once said that a democracy is a society where free speech does not end in a funeral. Evidently, we're not quite there yet. Close, but not quite there. Sad but true.
